year 8 muralists - recent photos of the large artworks for the mural

Wow! We are moving along swiftly now. Some have gone into the kiln for drying, some are being glazed which means they will be going up onto the wall next week. There are some lovely photos here showing how the year eight muralist team are working together to make these creatures and Noah's family and the boat. It is exciting to see what amazing powers they have to make realistic ceramic work.

Year 8 muralists make ceramic tile paintings for the mural

First day of artist in residence program with year 8 students. We spent a lesson discussing the project and how the mural will be made. In the afternoon the students painted a creature onto a tile for the rainbow. We also began making some letters for the text that will go in the mural. The students used a plaster mould of letters cast from a chocolate mould. They pushed the clay in and them gently pulled it back out with a fork. Have a look at what they did!
