4Nk make small creatures for the mural
on the 11th June 4NK made small creatures out of clay for our Noah's Ark mural.
we made the creatures by rolling out a slab of clay and drawing the shape of the creature. Extra bits of clay were addded to make the creature three dimensional and some people also added textures of fur or spines or scales.
Then at the end after cutting around our creature we painted them with the ceramic underglazes. These are colours that you can paint onto your work before it is fired in the kiln.
well done 4NK!
About the Noah's Ark Mural
The Noah's Ark Mural at Overnewton Anglican Community College is a ceramic mural that is being made by the artist Debbie Qadri with students at the Keilor Campus. All of the children from the Junior school as well as year 5's and some of the year 8's will be making a ceramic artwork to go into the mural. The mural design is a Noah’s Ark scene with the animals coming out of the Ark but set in the Keilor Valley. All of the animals in the scene will be native animals of Victoria.
