a rainbow of tiles made by grade 5 students

The grade five students decorated tiles for the rainbow which will run around the top left and top of our Noah's Ark mural. Student's made two paintings of each creature or bird and then made the background of their painting one of the colours of the rainbow. These tiles will be indispersed with coloured mosaic to form the rainbow. The students painted using liquid underglazes, particularly made for ceramics. They painted the picture onto a ceramic tile that has only been bisque fired but not glazed. After the workshops Debbie applied glaze over the student's paintings so that they will be bright and glossy when they are fired. In these pictures the pictures look dull because they are using the special ceramic paints called underglazes. After the firing, they will look amazing!!!! About the Noah's Ark Mural The Noah's Ark Mural at Overnewton Anglican Community College is a ceramic mural that is being made by the artist Debbie Qadri with students at the Keilor Campus. All of the children from the Junior school as well as year 5's and some of the year 8's will be making a ceramic artwork to go into the mural. The mural design is a Noah’s Ark scene with the animals coming out of the Ark but set in the Keilor Valley. All of the animals in the scene will be native animals of Victoria.
